NSS cells and languages and social sciences departments of Haldia Government College have arranged a seminar on International Mother Language Day entitled as আন্তর্জাতিক মাতৃভাষা দিবসঃ ইতিহাস, ঐতিহ্য ও উত্তরাধিকার (International Mother Language Day: History, Tradition and Heritage)

Suman Nath, Assistant Professor in Anthropology made a presentation on languages and imagination and how these two have paved the way for our civilisation.

Pritam Bandyopadhyay, Associate Professor in English discussed in what ways bengali language is adapting inputs from other languages.

Rajdeep Sunar, Assistant Professor in Sociology discussed about his mother language Nepali and focused on the importance of respecting each and every language in the world.

Seminar: Violences: Everydayness and Extraordinary 9.03.2016

The NSS unit I and II along with Women's Cell of the college has organised a one day seminar on "Violences: Everydayness and Extraordinary."

Speakers and their topics:

Dr. Sumana Goswami, assistant professor in Sociology talked on Cyber crime and vulnerability of women where she made conceptual clarifications regarding cyber crime. She enlighten us about the nature and extent vulnerability of women in the information era.

Debolina Das, assistant professor in Physics talked on cultural and patriarchal dimensions of  Widowhood and the continuation of such practices in our country. She also focused on the difficulties faced by the women researchers historically and how they have overcome those difficulties.

Ananya Chatterjee, Assistant professor in Sociology talked on Acid Attack Victims their social stigmas and the deep rooted problems rooted within the patriarchal constructs of beauty, relationships and womanhood.

Anti Drug Campaign 2015

The NSS units of the college has organised anti-Drug rally in collaboration with Haldia Police Station on 2.12.2015. The rally covered important parts of city and ended with speech delivered by Mr. Suman Nath, Assistant Professor and NSS programme officer and Dr. Biswajit Bhunia, Assistant Professor, Department of Physical Education and Counsellor, Haldia Municipality.

Thalassemia Detection Camp 2016

The NSS units of Haldia Government College has organised a Thalassemia Detection camp on 10.02.2016 in collaboration with Thalassemia Society of Midnapur District. 

Target group: Students
Number of participants: 186
Nature of Programme: Awareness seminar by resource persons from Thalassemia Society of Midnapur District followed by blood test.
